HTC Desire HD ICS update reportedly cancelled

GSMArena has discovered an OS upgrade schedule from Telus that could indicate the will HD is probably not receiving an update to Ice Cream Sandwich in the end.

HTC originally promised an ICS update for the will HD sometime this summer, although the Telus upgrade path now shows that the upgrade was cancelled. The carrier has cited “poor device performance during testing” for the ICS update, which sounds a chunk suspect. The HTC One V, as an instance, features an identical processor but only 512MB of RAM, yet shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich. Even the HTC Desire C, a handset with an insignificant 600Mhz processor, is running Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

This can be relating to Telus’ own handsets, and there is no official word yet from HTC at the matter. If it does grow to be the case for all Desire HD models, then it’s certain to disappoint customers worldwide. The sole approach to get Ice Cream Sandwich at the device if that’s the case can be to show to the friendly folks over at xda-developers and spot what they’re cooking up.
