Office 2013 receives RTM status

Office 2013 into its Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build. As of now, the coding and testing phases for the applying are complete, and it’s being moved into distribution. In step with Microsoft, it’s the most ambitious version of the Office suite so far, and is the primary to be optimized for touch devices.

Office 2013 will include all of Microsoft’s Office applications, cloud services, and servers. It has a brand new design that – very similar to Windows 8 – have been optimized for touch devices. Says the official Office blog, “[Office 2013] unlocks modern scenarios in social, reading, note-taking, meetings and communications.”

What’s next? Office 365 Enterprise customers will receive new features with the subsequent service update beginning in November. People with an MSDN or TechNet subscription might be capable of download the general version by the center of November. Finally, people with Software Assurance may be capable of download Office 2013 via the quantity Licensing Service Center by the center of November.

As of immediately, the plan is to have Office 2013 on retailer shelves in Q1 of next year. Beginning October 19th, anyone who buys Office 2010 from an area retailer or reseller would be ready to get Office 2013 for free. After the Windows 8 launch later this month, people with Windows RT devices shall be in a position to preview the brand new Office.
