This year the automotive world really stepped it up in the case of technological breakthroughs, especially when it came to connecting to drivers’ personal mobile devices. What we have seen was everything from integration of mobile chipsets into automobile systems to wireless connectivity to smartphones from a number of the top car and truck brands around the spectrum. Nokia supplies Oracle with Maps tech
inked a deal in order to see the Finnish company’s mapping expertise integrated into Oracle’s applications, opening the door to custom geo-location implementations in enterprise services. The agreement, financial terms for that have not been confirmed, will see Oracle Fusion Middleware MapViewer using Nokia Location Platform tech and individual Oracle users offered the possibility to license the mapping system for his or her own systems.
Fusion Middleware MapViewer is described as a J2EE service for combining together spatial data and custom mapping, and doing so in a means that does not require either high-level understanding of information manipulation or indeed cartography. This new take care of Nokia now means the complete extent of the company’s NAVTEQ map information can now be blended in too.

LG files OLED tech patent suit against Samsung in South Korea
Another day brings another patent suit within the technology world. LG Display has announced that it has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Samsung Electronics in South Korea over OLED display technology. The suit covers displays utilized in smartphones and tablet computers. LG alleges within the suit that Samsung is infringing on seven patents having to do with the design of OLED panels, driver circuitry, and device design. LG is looking for damages and an everlasting injunction against the sale of infringing devices in South Korea. The devices that LG claims infringe on its patents include the Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and the Galaxy Note.

PureView: The Tech Behind Nokia’s Salvation
Nokia has big plans for PureView, including thinner handsets and Windows Phone support, though there’s greater than just branding that’s getting into the style of slimming the smartphone camera tech. We grabbed some hands-on playtime with the Nokia 808 PureView in Germany this week, on the headquarters of long-time photography partner Carl Zeiss, where we not just discovered just what the camera is able to, but a few of the decisions – technical, product and otherwise – behind the PureView concept. And make no mistake: if anybody thing signifies Nokia’s potential salvation within the mobile industry, PureView is it.

Nokia 808 PureView samples and tech secrets revealed
though smaller – images if you happen to desire to see the everyday 5- or 8-megapixel pictures it’s more likely to take in general.
Behind the lens there is a 41-megapixel sensor and improved video autofocus, using a brand new “hyperfocal” system that promises less focus-hunting during video recording. A macro mode is obtainable in Creative Shooting mode, and there is touch autofocus together with an entire-auto mode for when you’d rather leave the 808 PureView to its own devices.
