Colin McRae: DiRT2 Optimized by DirectX 11

Racing game, Colin McRae: DiRT series, presents an off-road look amazing and realistic. Codemasters (developer and publisher of Colin McRae: DiRT series) plans to release a PC version DiRT2 on December 1, 2009 in the U.S.. DiRT2 PC version will complement the console versions (PS3, Xbox 360, WII, PSP, and DS) which has been available from 8 September 2009.

Codemasters promise the quality of physics and game details on DiRT2 higher than its predecessor, Colin McRae: DiRT. This is possible thanks to the use of technology racing game, EGO Engine (third generation), the development of game engine Neon result of cooperation between Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment, which is used in Colin McRae: DiRT.

DiRT2 PC version will take advantage of DirectX 11 on Windows 7 that just launched. The users of Windows Vista is also possible to download updates to get DirectX 11. Bryan Marshall, Chief Technical Officer, Codemasters explains:

“The opportunity to enter into a strategic relationship with Microsoft to fuse key DirectX 11 technologies with Codemasters’ EGO Engine and set the new standard in race gaming on home computers was irresistible. We will deliver the most immersive and realistic off-road racing experience yet and set the technical benchmark in the genre.”

Currently, the hardware side, only the ATI graphics card HD 5000 series which supports DirectX 11. When DirectX 11 enables us to improve the racing more realistic environment, which is owned hardware tessellation ATI HD 5000 series is claimed to improve detail on a variety of surfaces, water, and the animated crowd at the rally around the track. Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President, AMD Products Group explains:

“We expect Codemasters’ early move to DirectX 11 to place them in leadership position in developing the next generation of PC games and simulations. To aid in transitioning to DirectX 11, AMD is providing Codemasters with access to our software engineering expertise in DirectX 11 technologies such as tessellation and shader modelling. DirectX 11 has all of the ingredients needed to take PC gaming to a new level of realism by giving developers tools to effectively utilize the multi-CPU, multi-GPU systems now available to players.”

How great DiRT2 view? This can only be proved after the release DiRT2 demos are available for download. While waiting, prepare the budget to upgrade the graphics card is ready for DirectX 11. For those of you who do not have a DirectX 11-based graphics cards, do not worry, because DiRT2 can also be played on DirectX 9 and 10 based graphics cards. It’s just physics and game details will appear less than optimal.
